Eating An Elephant

We are impatiently looking for those trees to start budding and for the bright green leaves to appear on the bare trees…yes folks it is about to be Spring!! We also get the Spring fever and are determined to do our annual spring cleaning. This task may seem overwhelming at first, but if you will remember the adage, “How do you eat an elephant?”, the answer, “One bite at a time!” If you do this task in “bite size” amounts this can be accomplished. There are lots of ways to go about it, but the easiest is to set up three different bins (or boxes, whatever works): keep, toss and donate/sell.
Keeping - Make sure when you do go to box up items that they are all the same size boxes and that they are properly labeled. At Got Storage, we do have the perfect size boxes for your spring cleaning! They also have a large distinct spot on the boxes for labeling the content of each box’s treasures. Not using grandma’s beautiful china and don’t want to sell it or donate it, we have ways you can preserve this part of your history. Securely store your glassware in the dish and glass kits available in the Got Storage Office.
Toss - Make sure you wrap any glass items safely for garbage pickup. Look up your local rules and regulations if you are needing to throw away any hazardous items such as paints and cleaners. If cleaning dusty areas, you may need to purchase face mask to keep you healthy while cleaning.
Donate/Sell - As you are going through your items and you determine it is something you are going to donate, remember the golden rule…“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. If the shirt is missing a button or the zipper doesn’t work on the jeans you are going to donate them, toss them! Also, a nice thing is to bag same type of items together, according to size and gender. It will be greatly appreciated and get to the people who need them much quicker.
